786?

My thanks to Omar Khan for his insightful review of Resolution 786 on Amazon! This review's especially unique in that this is the first time that a reader/reviewer shares an interpretation of the Islamic notion of the numbers 7-8-6.

  1. I just read the review, very interesting. Was that something that you had in mind when you gave it that title?

  2. Yes, but not in the sense that I was invoking any specific deity. I included the symbolic numbers in the title because, in many ways, this novel explores humankind's relationship with G_d.

I'll add that this certainly isn't a first or only time that 786/bismillah has manifested in Western media and art. "Bismillah" has a somewhat prominent place in Queen's song, "Bohemian Rhapsody" -

"Bismillah! We will not let you go!"

I've heard that inclusion of those lyrics led to Queen's becoming one of the only rock bands whose music has been released in Iran.

Thinking back on the texts and scenes of "Resolution 786," I doubt it'll ever share the same distinction :).

Great to hear from you, Inna!
